Deli set to open on Central Park west

This photo was taken this week as a banner has gone up advertising the Park Pleasant Deli coming soon to the north west corner of West 100th street and Central Park west. This is one of only two retail locations on Central Park west below 101st street. Formerly, a dry cleaners, the space has been subdivided and the deli will take up the corner location and the other space appears to be still available for lease.

 

 

Levain Bakery to open in a larger space on Upper West side

Levain Bakery is moving out of 400 sqft into a larger space around the corner on Amsterdam avenue. The new space will be 3000 sqft in total and is located at 351 Amsterdam avenue just two blocks away according to LINK. The asking rent on the new space which is close to West 77th street was $27,500.

Trader Joe’s coming to 670 Columbus Upper West side

Trader Joe’s is reportedly in negotiations to lease a 20,000 sqft space at the base of 670 Columbus avenue. The space is at the base of the recently constructed retail between 92nd and 93rd street. There is already a Party City location in the retail strip.  100 West 93rd street is the postwar condo conversion above and rises 29 stories. Prices are about $1300 or so per square foot in the condo and the retail space was reportedly asking $450 psf according to LINK.

Just 4 blocks up, there is already a Whole Foods Market, in addition to Westside markets on Broadway at 97th street and 110th street.

 

PC Richards to open in Harlem

PC Richards is opening a 20,000 sqft store in Harlem on 125th street at 309 West 125th street. The store will have both frontage on 125th street and 126th street which will make access and pickups easier for customers. The chain is family owned and was founded in 1909.

Chipotle to open in Columbus Square on UWS

The shopping center that already includes Whole Foods,Sephora,Michael’s, TJ Maxx, and Bare Burger will have a Chipotle soon as well. Signage went up just this week. This means that nearly all of the spaces except a couple have been rented in this retail center. The Chipotle will be located at 805 Columbus avenue on the eastern side of the street. Do you think this is a good addition to the location?

Row House restaurant to open in Harlem

A new restaurant is coming to the corner of 115th street and Frederick Douglass boulevard in Harlem’s restaurant Row. Work can be seen from the outside and an opening according to signage will be in the Fall. The restaurant will be an American eatery and is from the same owners of the Harlem Tavern.

Does anyone else have information about this restaurant?

Whole Foods Harlem construction progresses

The Whole Foods coming to 125th street and Lenox avenue is progressing towards completion. The 6 story structure will include a Burlington Coat Factory, and Olive Garden and over 160,000 of retail. All spaces are already leased.

Lowe’s to open first stores in Manhattan

According to CNBC, Lowe’s will be opening two stores in Manhattan in the next couple months. The first on Manhattan’s Upper West side will have a soft opening in the next few weeks and though about a quarter of the size of their normal locations, will feature lots of merchandise for Manhattanites. Shortly afterwards, their new Chelsea location will open up as well. The Upper West side location will be at 2008 Broadway in the ground floor of the Copley condo in a space formely occupied by Food Emporium.

This move comes roughly 10 years after Home Depot opened their two locations in the city. Expect urban merchandise like foldable brooms and lots of technology to showcase merchandise not found in the store.

Upper East side Apple Store update

The  Apple Store that is slated for 74street and Madison avenue continues to be built out amid NIMBYism from local residents who are worried about its impact on the neighborhood.

The locals have even ciruclated a petition with several hundred signatures to ask the Community Board to recommend Apple pursue other locations. Amid their worries are people camping out and long lines adding further congestion to narrow sidewalks as Apple launches new product offerings.

Bloomingdale’s to open Upper West side outlet

Bloomingdale’s will open an outlet store at 2085 Broadway on the Upper West side taking over the 3 story space of Urban Outfitters. The store will feature “off-price” merchandise. Urban Outfitters will be leaving the space in the summer at the corner of West 72 street. On the opposite corner there is a Trader Joes.
